Beer Options We’re Not Sure That We Need – A Harry Potter Pub

, Beer Options We’re Not Sure That We Need – A Harry Potter Pub

There’s a new Harry Potter Pub planned for London in 2018, and even though this kinda thing was probably inevitable, that doesn’t mean it’s something the world actually needs…We’ve long viewed the craft beer biz as an entertainment industry, but that doesn’t mean it needs to turn into Disneyland.

According to the Drinks Business, entrepreneur Matthew Cortland wants to open a “wizarding pub” in London next year called the Cauldron Wizarding Pub & Inn –  (he wants the public to pay for it too – but that’s a whole other subject altogether).

According to Cortland, the pub will use technology (okay, we’re good with that) and the “Internet of things” (now that’s fairly obtuse), to bring the magic of the wizarding universe to life inside the “small and shabby looking pub” inspired by the works of J.K Rowling, J.R.R Tolkien, and C.S. Lewis. (So wait a minute, is this going to be a Potter’s Pub or Bilbo’s Bar?).

However, he did tell Business Insider that there will be “no direct reference or use of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, or Narnia specific terms” due to “obvious trademark and IP reasons,” (yah think?).

Cortland hopes to raise $500,000 via a Kickstarter campaign that will launch on June 26th, the anniversary of the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

Further plans include welcoming school trips (hopefully everybody’s over 18), and a book donation program which we expect will compile untold numbers of Harry Potter Books that haven’t been read for decades.

Bottom line…

Although, we’re not entirely sure that the world will ever need a Harry Potter Pub, we’re cool with it we guess, as long if there’s something from Beavertown Brewery or The Kernel on tap.
